Denim on Denim (for men)

Give Me Denim!

Let’s take a little trip down memory lane before I give you the latest styling.  Close your eyes and rewind back to the 2001 American Music Awards, you see all the major pop stars of the day including Christina Aguilera but we’re looking for one certain denim-loving couple.  Oh wait! You see them…it’s Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake looking oh so adorable but then you see the denim on denim outfits and it turns into a nightmare.  The denim was faded, washed, and looked like it was stitched together by worn out jeans.  Remember this visual because this is what you don’t do with denim.

Now wake up and I’ll let you know how to wear the denim trend but in a much simpler way than packing on a million pieces hoping it buys a spot on the best-dressed list.  The
Just A Cheap Shirt Demin Woven Shirt is a slim fit and has the stitching that makes up pop even though it’s a single shade of denim instead of the worn/washed out shade.  It’s got two chest pockets just in case you want to carry cash, ID, and or smartphone.

A tip that I’ve learned over the years is to never wear the same shade of denim for your jeans and shirt because then it looks like a single strip of clothing instead of two individual pieces.  In this case, our shirt is a lighter shade so the right match for it would be
Degaine’s Antique Dark Skinny Denim.  It’s a slim fit for the guys trying to look like they’ve been going to the gym for a couple of months but most importantly, it doesn’t blend into your shirt.

The good thing about denim is that it can practically go with any footwear you decide to sport. If you’re hitting up the bar or going to a house party, go with a pair of classic VANS or Chucks.  If you’re aiming to impress a certain lady on a date, dress up a little by adding a black blazer, black messy skinny tie, and a pair of dressy shoes.  As always, you wear the clothes…don’t let clothes wear you.

Stay moderne, fellas!
