Moderne Cares: Philanthropic Shopping Initiative

Get Involved. Give Back.
We all hear about giving back to those who are less fortunate, or helping out a worthwhile cause, but often times it can be a challenge to find the right outlet. Some of us have more time than others.. Others have a stronger connection to the cause...
Whatever your reason or excuse may be, we should all be doing our best to offer the best to everyone.

Question: So how does an online store like Moderne give back to the community?
Answer: Through Moderne Cares

Moderne Cares is a philanthropic shopping initiative created to bring you, our customers, the opportunity to give back to the community and the organizations that need our support.
All through the comfort of shopping from our own computers.

Through Moderne Cares, we have created a program where your purchase generates a donation to the non-profit organization you are supporting.

Over the past 2 years we have worked with several non-profit organizations - through seasonal or temporary campaigns. Each non profit organization in the Moderne Cares program is given a specific promo code. When orders are placed with those codes, the non-profit organization gets a donation.

Not only does this program generate outside donations to the organization, but it also gives organization supporters the opportunity to give back via donations through shopping.

If you are a non-profit organization looking to generate donations through online shopping - please contact Dani at info@shopmoderne.com to sign up your 501c(3) non-profit for Moderne Cares!

Moderne Loves: PCRF Cinco De Mayo Half Marathon - Orange County

Moderne loves a great cause, and great community.
PCRF (Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation) is a great non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children fighting malignant diseases.

With amazing registration rates, this is a great opportunity for you to get involved with the community and give back to those who really need it. Trust me, one look at the kids who benefit from this organization is worth all of the shin splints :)

On a serious note, this organization is privately supported through individual, and corporate donations... but most of all, through the community.  This run is the perfect opportunity for you to be a voice, as well as contribute to their cause. Not to mention - a 5k/10k/ half marathon may be what you need to get back into your summer shape!

If you are in the Orange County, CA area on Sunday, May 2, 2010 - we highly encourage you to be part of this great event.

Moderne will be forming: TEAM MODERNE with runners in every run.
Some of our staff will even brave the roads!

If you are interested in being a part of Team Moderne - please email us at info@shopmoderne.com with subject line: PRCF Run

WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A TEAM OF 20+ MEMBERS TO SHOW THE ORGANIZATION AND MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY- WE CARE, AND WE CAN HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

If you are not in the Southern California area but would like to learn more about the organization, please visit their website

Moderne Makes the Final 5 for the First Annual Classy Awards in San Diego

Stay Classy Productions is sponsoring the first annual CLASSY AWARDS on November 14, 2009.

The Classy Awards will honor local businesses and individuals who are making a difference in the community.

We are thrilled to announce that Moderne's owner, Janet Hamada has been chosen as a final nominee for the First Annual Classy Awards in San Diego. Janet is a finalist in the BEST INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISING EFFORT category.

Janet Hamada incorporates philanthropy into all aspects of her local fashion business, Moderne. This selfless business woman has rallied groups of people to drive contributions to various nonprofits, large and small, including Habitat for Humanity, Visions for the Future, South Bay Community Services, and many more. Her latest endeavor was producing a series of fashion-inspired fundraising events where dozens of vendors came out to display their products to interested consumers. A portion of each sale would be donated to a local non-profit. Janet was recently recognized for her infusion of business & giving in OC's Metro magazine "HOT 25" list. Even in a down economy, when many small businesses are forced to look inward, Janet has never strayed from her original idea of "giving back" into everything she does.

We are also thrilled to announce that Ronda's Dream Center - a non profit project in OC has made the list for MOST INNOVATIVE USE OF TECHNOLOGY. Moderne has been working with RDC since the beginning and we are thrilled that they are getting the recognition they deserve.

Ronda’s Dream Center has set out to enrich and improve the quality of life of the developmentally disabled community through a visual therapy center that provides a creative and stimulating visual environment for the developmentally disabled residents at Fairview Developmental Center.
Their project utilizes cutting edge technology to provide a revolutionary visual therapy center for Fairview patients. Ronda's Dream Center will consist of 2 rooms: The “Create” room revolves around a revolutionary interactive projector system that responds to human movement. Individuals will be able to simulate actions and behaviors that they would otherwise not be able to experience - due to environmental, medical and behavioral restrictions. With the use of interactive projectors, individuals are able to work on their cognitive and emotional functioning.

Please take a minute and visit STAY CLASSY to place your vote for Hamada and Ronda's Dream Center! Click here to learn more about the event!

Thanks for your ongoing support!
